Biography
Dr. Ferdousi Akter is the Executive Director & Founder of CMG Research International Ltd. (Community, Migration and Gender) and a researcher, strategic leader, and international development professional with over 30 years of experience in community development, migration, gender equality, humanitarian action, and social safeguards. She has led research, evaluations, and technical advisory assignments for governments, United Nations agencies, international NGOs, development partners, and academic institutions.
Her expertise includes strategic leadership, policy analysis, stakeholder engagement, institutional capacity strengthening, monitoring and evaluation, and evidence-based programme design. She has extensive experience working in conflict-affected, climate-vulnerable, disaster-prone, remote, and humanitarian settings, promoting inclusive and community-led approaches to sustainable development.
Dr. Akter is a strong advocate for the rights of marginalized communities, particularly women, gender diverse group, migrants, refugees, displaced populations, and other at-risk groups. Through her leadership, CMG Research International Ltd. generates high-quality evidence and strategic partnerships to inform policy, strengthen humanitarian and development programmes, and advance equitable, resilient, and sustainable communities in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
